5 StarsA Definite Page Turner
Oh my - what a difficult book to set down! This second book in the Escape to Paradise series does not disappoint. Picking up with many of the main characters from 'Forsaken Dreams', the author brings many of their idiosyncrasies to light. From the incessant search for gold, to the ever present wish to return to Georgia, we learn more of what the settlers had to deal with when trying to make a new home in a totally new, and unsettled area. It was a never ending experience with creatures that are abundant, vegetation that seems to grow overnight, pirates that suddenly appear, and more. Dreams of what was, and dare I say, visions?, keep the reader on the edge of their seat. One can't help but wonder what will come next!

5 StarsAnother Great Adventure from MaryLu!
“Leaning over, he picked up his knife, still stuck in the snake’s head and held up the beast. Magnolia leapt back. ‘What are you going to do with that?’ Shoving aside the scraggly bush, Hayden headed back to camp. ‘Make dinner.’” The story of New Hope, a colony of American Southerners who sought to establish their own paradise in the jungles of Brazil after the Civil War, continues in Elusive Hope. This is the second book in the Escape To Paradise Series by Mary Lu Tyndall and within its pages we read of the romance between Magnolia Scott - a spirited belle from Georgia, and Hayden Gale - a con man who has devoted his life to finding the man who stole his mother’s life. Though these two make a peculiar couple, even more odd is the circumstances they find themselves in…hiking together through the jungle to Rio de Janeiro, alone. The scene above is just one of many humorous, yet, adventurous passages throughout the book. While Magnolia and Hayden are on their journey, back in New Hope the colony struggles with visions, a wayward member of the colony who refuses to leave an ancient temple and eventually, pirates! When I finished Forsaken Dreams (the first book in the series) earlier this year I couldn’t wait to see what was ahead for New Hope and all the characters that I had fallen in love with. Elusive Hope satisfied all my expectations and left me longing to know what happens next! I love a good adventure and this book is full of them! That’s one of the reasons why I gave this book five stars. No matter what character you’re with, something is happening. I really liked the special mirror that Magnolia had. Though it delved a little deeper into the “spirit realm,” I didn’t have a problem with that. It reminded me of the truths you see in allegories and fantasy, in the end, I was very glad this element was in the story! Another thing that always has me looking forward to Mary Lu’s books are the pirate scenes. Just when you think everything is going to be okay - a pirate shows up and crashes the party! Love it! Now, if you’re not a big fan of pirates, don’t let my enthusiasm frighten you off! The pirates weren’t a “large” part of the story, only a chapter or two, but I thoroughly enjoyed them and in the setting, you will too. There wasn’t a character I didn’t enjoy. In between scenes with Hayden and Magnolia the story would go back and “check up” on the rest of the colony and what happened with James, Graves, Angeline, Sarah and Mr. Dodd. By the end of the book I was just as anxious to see what was going to happen to them as well as Hayden and Magnolia. There’s another story there just begging to be told! That was another reason this is a five star book for me - I don’t have to debate within myself whether or not I’d be interested in the next book when it releases…I want, no, need to know what happens to the colony! (Yes, the ending was very, very mysterious and dramatic!) Five stars. A must read if you like romance and/or adventure. I highly recommend Elusive Hope!

5 StarsMore Intriguing Than First in Series!
I have to say that this title by MaryLu Tyndall had me even more intrigued than the first in the series. As always, Tyndall captured me once again with her in-depth characters, sizzling chemistry between hero and heroine, and detailed setting descriptions and plots. Tyndall’s books are so well-written, and here, the descriptions of the Brazilian jungle setting were so incredibly exotic and wonderful that I felt like I was there! While I have found the characters in this series a bit less likeable than in Tyndall’s other books, I also think that is what makes the redemption of the characters so inspiring. In addition, the way that the colonists struggled to make a living, the various mishaps along the way, and the spiritual forces at work led me to suspect that something big was going to happen in Elusive Hope, and I had to keep turning pages to see if I could find out what it was. But, Tyndall left just enough a mystery that I can’t wait for the third book in the series! Elusive Hope cleverly illustrates struggles we all experience, but it packs even more of a “spiritual punch” than Tyndall’s other novels, taking the battle up a notch in a way the author never has before. Very interesting, and well worth the read!

5 StarsWOW!
Elusive Hope is book 2 in a 3-book series called "Escape To Paradise". MaryLu has outdone herself with this one! It's full of deception, lies, love, and, most importantly, forgiveness. This book takes off where the 1st one ended, in the jungles of Brazil. Follow Magnolia and Hayden as they search for their "happy ending". Will they find what they are looking for? Will they find love and happiness, or will the past be too strong for them to overcome? Pick up this page-turner and fight the urge to read it through in one sitting!

5 StarsAn Absolute Must Read!
Yet another brilliantly told masterpiece by MaryLu Tyndall! The second in her Escape to Paradise trilogy, this one tells the story of Magnolia, the epitome of a Southern Belle, and Hayden, the self-made con man. Both characters want something, and both are very willing to use others to get to their end goal. But what happens if you start falling for a person you’re trying to con? What is more important, your original goal or your newfound love? And what of God’s plan? Both characters have to deal with whether or not what they want is what God wants for them. Hayden’s past, that of a lifelong search, is thrown in his face, and he has to answer the question if it’s really worth pursuing. And Magnolia, the beautiful Southern Belle, is forced to look at the beauty she so prizes, and whether it’s is truly as important as she believes. As with her first book, MaryLu unabashedly gives the readers a glimpse into the life of Southerners after the Civil War. She opens the minds up for us to understand their thoughts, but also shows how their own beliefs change over time. With beautiful prose, plenty of adventure, a romance that’ll warm your heart, not to mention a good dose of God’s love against Satan’s lies, this book is an absolute must read.
