The 60 Picture-Letter Cards, designed for use with Get Ready, Get Set, and Go for The Code, may be used for supplementary visual and auditory work. There are three types of cards, allowing for flexibility and a creation of a variety of games and activities. Picture cards provide a visual cue and match the key words in the Explode The Code student books. Letter cards allow students to practice letter identification and recognition. Explode the Code requires very little teacher prep. ETC has short lessons that are not overwhelming to struggling learners. The lessons help boost confidence has your child works through the lessons.

I used Explode the Code with my older daughter when she was in the early grades. With her, the workbooks were all that was needed to get her reading well. My son (presently in 2nd grade) is using Explode the Code as a portion of the Preventing Academic Failure (PAF) program. He has learning issues (dyslexia and ADD), and we are using it online and in workbook form to reinforce his phonics skills. I love the Explode the Code products and have found them very helpful with two very different types of learners.

We started Explode the Code with my daughter when she was in first grade using the workbooks. I am convinced that her reading and phonics skills have improved tremendously as a result of ETC. My son is now in kindergarten and completed Get Ready for the Code, Get Set for the Code, and Go For the Code prior to beginning the on-line version of Explode the Code. We are using the on-line version in conjunction with Book 1. My daughter begged me to get an on-line subscription for her as well even though she was already finished with Book 5. They both look forward to their daily on-line sessions with ETC on-line.

Explode the Code is a fun, simple way to reinforce phonics skills with your student. The curriculum also contains handwriting practice and a bit of spelling as well. Extra practice books are available for further practice if necessary.
