This set of "Footsteps for Four" flashcards includes alphabet, number, and shape/color flashcards in a convenient slim format. The alphabet cards feature upper and lower-case letters in italic font with a photograph of an object that begins with that letter; vowels are distinguished by green print. The letters cards feature a number of objects that students are to count; the back of the card shows the actual Arabic number. The shape cards show a shape in a certain color; parents may quiz children on either.

We have loved Bob Jones Kindergarten curriculum. It is colorful, fun and thorough. Two of our children learned to read with this and I plan to teach the other three from it as well.

I have used this curriculum for many years, for all 4 of my children. One of my children has a learning disability (phenomic awareness disorder), so I had to make some adjustments. I had 2 versions/copyrights, etc of the K5 program, and I used both at the same time for him. for example, I did lesson 1 of the phonics portion of the most current version and the next day did lesson 1 of the previous/older phonics curriculum. In addition, I had lots of other phonics lessons from other companies, mostly on the computer for him to practice as well. The math and handwriting parts of this curriculum are excellent as well. My oldest son has often been praised that his handwriting is excellent. Other adults notice that at a young age my children could do money math very well. The best part of this program was that I had the program on DVD's. My children were able to watch the lessons and pause them as needed. the lessons also included a mom's minutes portion, so I knew what needed for that particular lesson. The teachers on the DVD's are very child friendly and my kids look forward to 'seeing' their next lesson or move up and have an older sibling's teacher. These teachers have a passion for more than teaching, but reinforcing the morals of our family values, which is most important to us. Overally, I recommend this curriculum to all my friends, if you are looking for a similar type of 'regular' school setting approach.

While the phonics program is written with a regular school in mind, it has been easy to use at home. The Characters are fun and help children to remember the rules. I recommend purchasing the reading program with the phonics. If you purchase the complete kit from Bob Jones it includes all readers and teachers guides.

I love this program! I find that it is well laid out and easy to use, even for my daughter who has extreme difficulties with language. It is best to purchase at a place where you get free shipping because it is not cheap however I have already used it for one child and will use it for the rest of my children, only replacing workbooks, so that is not bad. I have used other programs but this is the one that I will stick with for the forseeable future.

We just started BJU for my daughter who is in third grade. Prior to this, she has completed some Veritas reading units, Explode the code (in second grade- she completed up to 4th grade), Easy Grammar, and some other Phonics programs. I was really looking for reading comprehension this year and find that BJU definitely is great in this area. Plus the stories are a mixture of fiction and nonfiction.

Our family has truly enjoyed the BJU Reading 6 curriculum. My son and daughter both are currently working together and have truly enjoyed most of the stories. It is such a blessing when they go off to read a story and come running back saying 'Momma you have to go read that story'! I love how BJU has a separate Reading program. I was wondering with some of the other curriculums and even methods of homeschooling how do your students learn about settings, plots, and different types of characters.
