Description of Item

Discover the true price of fame in a powerful movie the whole family will love.

Amanda "AJ" Michalka stars as 18-year-old singer/songwriter Grace Rose Trey - beautiful, highly talented, and restless. She performs at Freedom Community Chapel each Sunday with her gifted father Johnny, the music director of the small-town Alabama church. A former rock star, Johnny Trey charted a Billboard number one single 20 years before. But when the hits stopped coming he crashed hard, a one hit wonder. Johnny found Christ and a new life for his family, far from the Hollywood Hills.

One day without warning, Grace leaves for Los Angeles. She has landed a record deal with the help of Johnny’s ruthless former manager and producer Frank “Mossy” Mostin. Mossy sees in Grace a potential pop superstar – the next Katie Perry. Cutting off contact with her parents, Grace seems prepared to walk away from her Christian faith and music to achieve her long-suppressed fantasy of Hollywood superstardom. Will the experience cause her to reject her faith, or rediscover it?

Grace Unplugged is a modern day prodigal-daughter story that features the acting debut of Christian singer Jamie-Grace, American Idol Season 10 Finalist Pia Toscano, and an appearance by renowned Christian artist/songwriter and Grammy Award® winner Chris Tomlin.

4 StarsBetter than expected!
I took my 12 year old daughter to see this, kind of expecting it to be another cheesy Christian film, but we both really enjoyed it. The acting was good, the story was well written, and it just felt like a "real" movie. I loved the message in the film. Our kids are being fed the idea that they should pursue fame at any cost and that it's easy to attain, but this movie really showed the other side of that. We came away with some great talking points. I highly recommend it!
