Introducing the Uncommon Lectionary

The church has used lectionaries--"lists of Scriptures to be read on particular Sundays--"for centuries. Because most lectionaries, however, assume the hearers are familiar with the Christian Year, today's church is challenged to reach out to those who are spiritually hungry, yet unfamiliar with the Christian story. In this important new work, Bandy gives those who plan and lead worship a new lectionary geared to the needs of seekers. He lays out a plan for a one-year excursion through the central biblical narratives, by which seekers gain a basic understanding of the gospel, as well as a call to commit themselves to the Christian faith.
