Product Overview

Street Date: 08/04/2009
1000 Generations debut album Turn Off The Lesser Lights is loaded with addictive piano-driven pop born from a place of honest worship. This Indianapolis based band gained national attention after their independent project was named Worship Leader magazine's ‘best worship album of the year’; in addition to winning the GMA Academy’s coveted ‘song of the year’ award in Estes Park for the anthem “How Big Small Can Be” (both in 2007). After meeting at Anderson University and getting married shortly thereafter, Steven and Amanda Potaczek founded 1000 Generations in 2003 while serving on the worship team at Vineyard Community Church in Indianapolis. The group takes its name from the five passages of scripture affirming God's "covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands". Bassist Alain Picard and drummer Lorin Lemme round out the band. Now 1000 Generations is set to release Turn Off The Lesser Lights on Vineyard Music’s Varietal Records imprint (also home to Jeremy Riddle). The album, which was produced by Steven Potaczek and mixed by David Bianco (Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, The Elms) and Chad Evans, reveals a classic approach to songwriting reminiscent of The Beatles, Billy Joel and Elton John. A prime example is the album's hopeful lead single, "Fail Us Not," which features Steven and Amanda sharing lead vocals and a strong melodic acoustic guitar/piano-based track. The song is already receiving significant airplay on a number of radio stations across the country.
