I like that this curriculum had lots of lessons and good repetition. very thorough. Easy for me as the parent because the teacher books were also very thorough with good example answers.

The Cultural Geography program from Bob Jones for 9th grade was EXCELLENT!! It held my student's interest through the whole course. My only wish is that there was a schedule to help with splitting up this huge book into daily lessons. I had to do a lot of work to figure out how much to do daily in order to finish in a year. This book could easily take 18 months if you did everything that is offered, and we liked it so much that we wanted to do all that was offered! However, to fit it into even 12 months was difficult, and I would have loved a daily schedule like Bob Jones offers in their Writing and Grammar 9 program. That schedule was very helpful. Otherwise, this was a fantastic program that I highly recommend. My 9th and 10th grader completed it together, and we all enjoyed it.

I have found that BJU's history and science have worked well for my children. The only drawback is the lab materials for science can get very expensive. So, we try to improvise with beakers, testtubes, etc. There are times that we still can not find all of the materials. I taught labs in a tech school for a long time, so I knew how to improvise with kitchen materials, etc. The history and science seem to have well prepared my other homeschooler for those subjects in college.

Great content with a firm Creation/Intelligent design stance. It can be a little dry. I break up the seriously dry days with documentaries or trips.

This curriculum was interesting for the student as well as the teacher. The teacher's book provided lots of extra information to make the content more interesting and relevant. Compared to other programs, the Bob Jones is a more complete program for the average student who doesn't intend to go into the field of biology or medicine. Strong academically. I have used two other curriculums for this coarse and I strongly prefer the Bob Jones Biology over the other programs.

It is challenging, but very interesting, and holds my student's attention. He is a 10th grade boy, very strong reader, but not a big fan of writing. He credits this World History (10th grade Bob Jones) with making history his favorite subject! The chapters are broken up nicely into sections with a section quiz at the end of each section. Very easy to assign one reading section + section quiz (3-4 questions from the reading - student writes the answers on separate paper) per day. Then do some of the activities from the Student Activities consumable book ( I highly recommend this!) which include timelines, maps, and other activities. Then he does the review page (at the end of each chapter) and then takes the chapter test which includes many different kinds of questions (MCh, T/F, matching, short answer, short essay, and map). I like that I do not have to teach this program directly (I have 5 children total, from high school down to elementary), and my high school boy can manage the program himself, with only some direction and discussion from me. He really enjoys it!

BJU in my opinion has the best science curriculum offered. Apologia is great but BJU is much more thorough and tests are more comprehensive. If you use any of the BJU, I highly recommend the DVDs'. It makes the student's day longer so I would not use it for all their subjects. I would definitely recommend it for science. The lectures are fun and you can watch the labs before doing them. This helps the students and saves the parent time in planning the labs. The one drawback from using any BJU (which I have used a lot in the past) is that you have to lease their DVDs'. I think they loose a lot of customers b/c of that. It's just not cost efficient for the families who have more than 1 child.
