When teaching math, find a curriculum you and your student like and stick with it through out his homeschooling. That way there are no holes to fill, if you jump from different curriculum.

Great math foundation. We switched for the high school years to Teaching Textbooks because of the thorough explanation to ever question.

I like the incremental approach vs spiraling. I think they understand and retain better with this method vs abeka (which we used previously).

Excellent test results from this curriculum. Saxon Math constantly reviews previous lessons. Have used with all nine of our children and they tested well on the math section of the ACT test.

It was hard for my child to us since he has ADHD and is a slow learner.

Saxon is very sequential. The text is not flashy (few graphics and all black and white). I used Saxon with my daughter who struggled a bit in math and needed 'basic math' -- not higher-level problem-solving.
