Saxon math was excellent to use when we brought home our public schooled child in 5th grade. It was close enough to public school texts but reviewed and taught so much more than the school system did. I would recommend this to anyone trying to homeschool a child with a public school history!

When teaching math, find a curriculum you and your student like and stick with it through out his homeschooling. That way there are no holes to fill, if you jump from different curriculum.

I thought this curriculum was very good. I always loved math. However, my children don't like math and they did not enjoy Saxon math. They dreaded doing it. I would love to have found a more fun way to teach math for children who don't enjoy the subject. If a child likes to do math, they will like this curriculum.

I like the incremental approach vs spiraling. I think they understand and retain better with this method vs abeka (which we used previously).

It was hard for my child to us since he has ADHD and is a slow learner.
