Covering the nine IEW units, this course develops composition, grammar, and vocabulary skills while students write about American history from the Explorers to the Gold Rush.
This Student Book contains assignments, instructions, engaging source texts, blank outlines, checklists, sample compositions, and clever vocabulary cards. An optional 41-page e-book supplement contains all the checklists from the Student Book, allowing you to print a copy for your student if a checklist is lost or you want to give an additional assignment with the same checklist.
These lessons are designed to be used by an instructor who has been through the Teaching Writing: Structure & Style seminar, either live or on DVD.
Perfect for homeschoolers, homeschool co-ops, tutors, and hybrid schools, this theme-based writing curriculum supports parents and teachers in teaching writing to upper-elementary and middle school students (grades 5–8), as well as high school students new to IEW. Advanced high schoolers with prior experience in IEW may do U.S. History, Volume 1 and U.S. History, Volume 2 in one school year, if desired.
