Why You Act the Way You Do

This is the most eye opening book I have ever read in my life, other than my bible. I live with my husband and our 9 children and 4 of them are teenagers. After reading this book I now fully understand each of my family members personalities, combination of personalities, why some are loud, some are quiet, some are controlling, some are insulting and how to emotionally respond to their needs, without having to attack their way of looking at life. It has changed the way I look at my family and I'm so thankful to Mr. LaHaye. Being a melancholy, as the book explains, I'm prone to perfectionism and instead of being frustrated with my perfectionists ways - I know accept that I am who God made me to be and I act the way I act so God can get all the glory as I am used in this life he has called us to live. The book also has opened up my heart regarding forgiveness, handling anger..etc. Mr. LaHaye goes into detail about all kinds of explanations as to why certain personalities act the way they do and how if lead by the Holy Spirit we can be used in positive ways to bless others. My husband and I have lots of laughs while reading it and when one of our kids is responding to a situation in a particular way, we smile at each other and say "well you know their a (sanguine, phlegmatic, choleric or melancholy) so they're suppose to act that way..." It's amazing how much more patient we are! Not only with our own family but with others in our life as well. Do not hesitate to buy this book!!! It is a life changer! God Bless ~
