Description of Wordly Wise Book 6 Grade 9 by EPS Educators Publishing Service
Wordly Wise is an interactive program that uses fun lessons and activities to teach word recognition, usage, spelling, and mastery!
Each lesson in these books introduces about twelve new words and contains several exercises plus a Wordly Wise section, which discusses words with interesting histories and distinguishes between words that are commonly confused. Exercises A, B, and C use these new words in context, teach multiple meanings of words, and give practice using the words in sentences. Exercise D reviews the lesson and earlier lessons. Correct completion of Exercise E gives part of a quotation, poem, or riddle. An additional exercise in each lesson deals in detail with roots, prefixes, and suffixes. There is no glossary in the upper level books (Books 4-9); the student must use a separate dictionary. The emphasis in the selection of words has been on providing a core vocabulary useful in a variety of verbal contexts, appropriate to students' level of experience and writing ability, and keyed to the level of reading material available to them.146 pages, softcover. Book 6, Grade 9.
