I did a lot of creating my own tests and reviews for this course, but felt it was well worth the time spent. The course held my daughters attention all the way through.

We are extremely pleased with Apologia science courses. We are currently doing our fourth Apologia science course and would not consider using any other. In fact, last year when I was preparing to garner supplies for this year, our son expressed his desire that he didn't want me to consider any other science curriculum. It is so well written so as to be easily understandable, he is able to do it almost completely on his own (we do the labs together). Additional Notes: I am from Canada. I hope it is okay I answered your questionairre? The reason we spent so much on supplemental resources was because the microscope we purchased cost something like $150. Its not so much that I would not 'allow' my son to take such a Biology course on line, but the fact is that he does not want to do online courses. He prefers a traditional paper-and-ink textbook, as do I. I do not honestly recall whether any of the Biology tests included true/false or matching questions. They may have. But primarily they were short answer questions, to the best of my recollection. The time I spent preparing for each week's lessons primarily consisted in consulting the Schedule which I purchased separately from Sonlight, and recording them in our daily planner, for my own records, and for my son to check off upon completion of each day's work in Biology. Other than this, I rounded up supplies for the experiments. That is all the prep I had to do. :) I did not spend Any time actually teaching the material. It is self-teaching.

I love the Apologia series. It is all from a Christian viewpoint and has lots of hands on labs that gets the student to think about their physical world and how it works.
