Saxon is wonderful.

I really like Saxon. It has a lot of review though when going into the next year, maybe a little too much review if the child already know that really well.

This is a straight forward math program. There are no colorful pages. My child was able to do much of this on her own. I did not like however that they taught a new concept and only gave you a few problems to do. The majority of each lesson was on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Then the other problems were from older concepts. So if you don't understand something and need practice it was not available. Their practice pages were all for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

This curriculum iss great if your child needs constant reinforcing. It has lots and lots of practice built right in, which is great for a lot of children. It was overkill for my child and we switched to singapore math with great results. It really depends on what you are looking for in regards to your child's learning style. My child successfully studies singapore math independantly, but Saxon is much better for that for the average student because it has so much detail and practice problems.
