I wish I could give It Negative Stars
Wow. In an attempt to "be more friendly with God," Young has blasphemed God. He has brought God down to a human level. God is NOT equal to us. He does NOT think like us. He is NOT our buddy. He is our Savior and King.
Please don't read this book unless you plan to use it to point out the fallacies and sinful abominations in this piece of garbage.

worthless
this book is altogether unbiblical and disgusting. Young needs to actually read his Bible. this book is pure heresy.

Thought Provoking
This is a thought provoking book. It caused me to think about things I had not before. I also discovered that reading this book in public is a great way to find yourself in conversation with strangers. People wanted to talk with me about it everywhere I went.

Challenging
If you have an issue with viewing God as a loving Father and believe He should be feared always, then you will have trouble with this book. This book is incredible...but it was challenging at the same time. I have gone back to study the Bible to see what it says about some of the things in this book...and I feel fine about recommending this book to my friends and family.

Read with an open mind...
First off...everyone should know that this book is fiction. It is not a theology textbook, and should not be used as a basis for personal beliefs.
That said, if you read it with an open mind, and read the story for what it is, you will find it to be a half-decent novel. Even the author (William P. Young) has said that it was written as story for his children.
I personally do not agree with his theology, but, as stated, this is fiction. Keep your Bible handy!

A MUST READ BOOK!!
I have cried, I have laughed, I have felt the love of God, or should I say a deeper love FOR God, swell in my heart as I read this book. I have thought of so many friends that I want to share this story with. I have wondered if God could meet me in The Shack of my own life. So many stories can bring enjoyment and entertainment for its duration, but this book will also stir up a new love for and understanding of God as Papa. Unconditional love - this is what we were made for and so desperately need. Please read this book. You will not be the same afterwards. Blessings to you!
