Shauna McDade is doing the best she can as a single mom to a five-year old boy. Life hasn't been the same for her after her husband died in a climbing accident. Now her aerial photography business is about to hit bankruptcy after encountering several mechanical failures that appear to be beyond coincidence.
After reviewing pictures she took for an environmental study, she noticed a mysterious dark spot in the Juan de Fuca Strait. Her photos caused quite a bit of commotion when it was revealed that the runoff was coming from one of the largest lavender growers in the valley, a business inherited by Shauna's estranged cousin.
Shauna fears for her life, and her son, after her mentor and business partner is murdered. She turns to the only ally she has left, Nate Bannister, her husband's best friend. Nate is more than willing to help out in any way he can, to alleviate the guilt he feels over Jack's death.
The lavender fields are merely a shroud for something much darker, and there are secrets that someone will go to great lengths to keep hidden.
