The boy shares the wall with a friend, who writes out her own prayers. Later, they visit the chalkboard wall at dusk with a flashlight. The boy's mom shines a light on some of the prayers, and turns it off for the others, showing that their prayers (and the children's faith) are still there, even in the dark, and that God hears all of our requests.
