When his life comes apart, will the center hold?
Chris Walker has everything. A career, a beautiful fiancee, a promising ministry opportunity, and a faith instilled in him from a young age. But when a revelation about his family comes to light at his grandmother's funeral, Chris finds himself facing questions he didn't even know he had about...well, everything.
Fighting a battle within and without from those that don't understand his sudden doubts, Chris seeks refuge in a weekend with his grandfather to ask the tough questions and sort through the issues where faith meets life and disillusionment collides with truth.
For those searching for the historic Christian faith that is relevant to life today, or for those who believe that a completely new faith is called for, this stirring tale is a deep and powerful exploration of what being Christian has meant and still means today.

5 Starsclear winter nights
I read Clear Winter Nights by Trevin Wax, in exchange for honest review from Blogging For Books. When I requested the book, I had no idea what it was about. I knew it was Christian-based, but it was not released to the public yet. I could not find any information on the book and requested it anyway. and I loved it. You have a main character, Chris, who is doubting his faith. Chris has a good job, a future, and a fiance. Add in a strained relationship with his father plus a grandma, who instilled the Christian faith in him, who died. Chris starts doubting his faith, doubting his life, doubting his future. He takes a break from his fiance. Chris was in line to help seed a church but his heart was no longer in it. He goes to visit his grandpa, a former pastor, who just got out the hospital. The book had a plot, but what I enjoyed more was the conversations between the Chris and his grandpa. There was an interesting conversation where Chris said all religions was on equal footing. His grandpa was saying that everyone felt their religion (or lack of religion) was superior to another's. It was the one they chose or grew up with. It is the one, which holds their beliefs and faith. It is their truth. Chris could offend some people by saying all religions was equal. Even though the paperback is small, it is not a quick read. It contains a good plot and good dialogue about religion and faith.

3 StarsClear Winter Nights
I finished the book Clear Winter Nights by Trevin Wax this weekend. When I first started reading I thought this was a true story. I thought it read like one but soon I realized this was fiction. This book is a short read with only 147 pages. It is about Chris Walker and it is about his grandpa Gil (who is a retired pastor). I found this book to be about three men really. The first being Chris Walker the college student who is suffering pain from his dad leaving the family and his doubting in God. The second is Gil who is in mourning for the loss of his wife and having to come up with forgiveness for his son. The third person is Chris Walker Sr. He has left his family and did not even return for his own mother’s funeral of to help with his dad when he had medical issues. The two main characters are Chris Jr and Gil and each man has to learn to forgive and honor God. We see Chris’s stay with his grandfather and how wounded Chris because he can even sleep in his father’s boyhood bedroom the one he always stayed in prior to his father’s departure. We see Chris’s struggle with his faith and the damage brought on by this struggle and from Gil we see him struggle with forgiveness of his son and ageing. I found the book to be good but it did not wow me. I have to say I did love its message and I was entertained by it. I would still read another book written by Trevin Wax in the future. I must give this book my three star rating I also must let you know that I did get this complimentary copy for my honest review. I was provided the book from Multnomah Publishing Group.
