Crucifixion was a punishment reserved for the worst of criminals. When Jesus was crucified, two criminals were crucified with Him, most likely rebels against the Roman Empire. One repented and went to be with Jesus when he died. The other remained a scoffer and met the devil when he died. When we think about the cross we should remember that Jesus is compassionate and forgiving when we repent and trust in Him, but it is a choice.
This wall cross is actually three. In the center is the larger one representing the one where Jesus hung. On either side are smaller crosses representing where the criminals hung. It is made of resin that resembles weathered wood.
