Five, six, pick up sticks!
You've heard the familiar nursery rhyme, now you can play the classic game of Pick Up Sticks. Can you grab one stick out of a bundle, without moving any other? It may sound like a simple game, but it can get challenging.
Open the game box, pull all of the sticks out, set them upright on the table, then release the bundle of 41 sticks. They will fall in a random assortment. Some sticks may be easier to take than others. If you can take one stick without moving any of the others, then you get to keep that stick, and you can use it to help you lift other sticks out of the pile. If you can successfully take a stick out of the pile without moving the others, then you get to keep going. Your turn ends when you move the other sticks.
With the colorful assortment of sticks in this box, you could even play with more challenging game variations. You could allow only the black stick to be used as a lifting tool, and only by the player who successfully picks it up. You could also require players to have one stick of all other colors before taking the black stick.
Different sticks are worth different points based on how many are in the box:
- Black = 25 points
- Purple = 15 points
- Yellow = 6 points
- Green = 5 points
- Red = 4 points
Clean up is simple. When the game is over, simply pack all 41 sticks into the box and slide the lid closed. Get ready to challenge your friends and family to a game of Pick Up Sticks.
