In the Bible the term lily refers to a wide variety of flowers. Jesus even referenced lilies when he said, "Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these" (Matthew 6:28-29).
Solomon even referred to his beloved as the Lily of the Valley. Consider a bright and beautiful flower blossoming in a dark valley, the lowest of places. This anointing fragrance should remind us that God has a habit of bringing something beautiful out of the lowest depths and most difficult places.
