The seal depicts a steamboat crossing the Missouri river in the background, in the foreground there is a smith with a hammer and anvil, depicting the mechanic arts. Throughout the field between the boat and the smith, there is a field with sheaves of wheat and stalks of growing corn, depicting agriculture. The banner at the top has the state motto: Equality Before The Law.
